What affects cost

Shoot days: One day on set is typically $4,000–$8,000 for crew, gear, and production management. Each extra day adds about $3,500–$6,000 depending on headcount.

Locations: Office shoots are usually the cheapest — often no permits. Streets and parks in SF, NYC, or LA can add $300–$2,000 in permit fees.

Post-production complexity: A straight interview edit is the lightest post line item. Motion graphics, heavy color, sound design, and 3D each add time and budget.

Deliverable volume: A hero film plus six social cuts costs more than the hero alone. We list deliverables in the quote so scope stays clear.

Animation type: 2D motion graphics < 2D character animation < 3D. Each step up roughly doubles time and cost.

How we quote

We start with a 30-minute intake call — free, no obligation. Goal, timeline, audience, and where the piece will run.

Within 48 hours you get a line-item estimate: crew, gear, locations, post, and deliverables listed separately.

Color, sound, and subtitles are in our standard quote — not tucked into revision rounds. We don't nickel-and-dime items other shops hide in fine print.

If scope shifts (say, a second location after sign-off), we send a change order before shooting — not an invoice after delivery.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Do your prices include scripting and concept development?

Yes. Standard quotes cover pre-production: intake, concept, script, and storyboard when needed. That's how we keep shoot days tight — not a line-item upsell.

Are your rates higher because you're in San Francisco?

SF crew runs about 15–20% above national averages — labor and cost of living. We're upfront about it. Animation and post are priced the same whether you're local or not; that work is in-house.

Can you work with a smaller budget?

We take focused, single-deliverable jobs from $5,000. Below that, we can't hit a standard worth putting your brand on — we'd rather say no than deliver something thin.

Do you offer payment plans?

Default is 50% before production, 50% on final delivery. On $30K+ jobs we can split three ways: 33% at kickoff, 33% after the shoot, 34% on delivery.

What's not included in your standard quote?

Quoted separately when needed: talent fees, custom music (stock is included), studio rental if you want a controlled set instead of your office, and drone work in restricted airspace (extra permits).
