Indoor filming at private businesses doesn't typically require a city permit but may require building management approval.
Brooklyn (DUMBO, Williamsburg) gives you industrial backdrops with less permit friction than Manhattan. SoHo and Tribeca work for consumer lifestyle. Midtown corporate shoots are heavy on logistics (parking, loading docks, building security) but run smoothly once access is locked.
